Kieran Ferran

Senior Economist

Kieran is a Senior Economist within the Tourism Economics team and plays a key role in the delivery of a range tourism forecast services as well as working on a wide range of tourism impact projects.

Kieran is responsible for running the Global City Travel (GCT) service as well as providing support to updates of the Global Travel Service (GTS) which provides forecasts of bilateral tourism flows across 185 countries and 300 cities, covering key tourism indicators including overnight arrivals and tourism spending. Kieran specialises in improving our data processing techniques to expand and enhance our forecast models.

Kieran has led the expansion of Tourism Economics’ Event Impact Calculator into the European market, providing Destination Marketing Organisations with an online platform to measure the direct and indirect economic impacts of different events being hosted in their cities. Kieran regularly plays a role in supporting the Qatar Tourism Authority including developing a suite of data processing systems and tools which are used to assess historic and recent tourism trends and inform key decisions and policy initiatives.

Kieran graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2010 with a degree in Economics and is studying for a master’s degree in data science from Leuphana University Lüneburg.
